The Swiss company Pilatus produced 322 B4
from June 1972 up until the rights to manufacture were sold to a Japanese
company (Nippi). This was the sole glider manufactured by Pilatus. The B-4 all
metal sailplane was considered to be the ideal sailplane for flying clubs and
private owners. It offers quality, robustness, safety, performance, superb
handling and a full aerobatic capability (version PC11-AF) with minimum
maintenance costs. With a span of 4.5 meters this 1:3.3 scale Pilatus
B4 is one of our finest Super Scale gliders. The cockpit comes completely finished with control columns,
upholstered seats, seat belts, and many other scale details such as instrument
mushrooms complete with instruments. The
true to scale canopy is hinged sidewise and includes preinstalled working
sliding windows that allow access to the canopy locking mechanism. All that remains for the builder to do is add
a scale pilot for
complete realism. Lot of details have been added to the molded surface, fuselage
and wings to reproduce as accurately as possible, the metal paneling and rivets
of it's full size counterpart.
The wings and all control
surfaces are of very accurate hollow-molded construction.
It features a modified Naca airfoil which gives this fine model its smooth and versatile
flying characteristics. This model
is really comfortable on a slope and can bring hours of great flight when
aero-towed. Its thermalling
performance is excellent and the wings are very strong to withstand heavy aerobatics.
With the level of
completion of this glider, only a few hours of work are required before it will
be ready to take to the air. The
wings and control surfaces are hollow molded and completely finished. Servo
wires preinstalled. Airbrakes
are installed and ready to be connected to your servos. The wings feature the full size interlocking wing joiner system, all
carbon reinforced. The high gloss, gel coated Fiberglas fuselage has the wing
joiner system and the rudder control tube installed. As well, the
functional retract, tail and nose wheels, and a fully functional aero tow
release are installed. Decals are
applied. A small package of
hardware and building instructions complete the kit.
Radio requirements are two high torque mini servos for the
ailerons, two mini servos for the airbrakes and four regular servos for the
elevator, rudder, retract, and tow release.
