The Nimbus 4D is the current open class super two seater design in production by Schempp-Hirth in Germany. It is the successor to the earlier 24.6
m Nimbus 3D. The six piece (26.5 m span)
Discus plan form wing has full span camber changing flaperons. It has a glide ratio of about 60. It's particular look with the triple taper
leading edge and forward swept wings is really graceful in the air. We
offer here a 1:5 (5.3 m span) all glass super-scale reproduction, of this very high performance
glider.

One of our nicest super scale glider. This 1:5
scale Nimbus 4D comes with the cockpit completely finished. The canopy is
hinged sidewise like the real one, the sliding windows are installed and
working, the canopy locking mechanism is installed and accessible through the
rear window, the instrument mushrooms have the instruments details already
inserted, control sticks, seat belts, cushionning
and a camera are included. The kit comes with hollow moulded wings, in two pieces each side
and are very accurately
reproduced. Flaps are in two pieces as the ailerons are. The HQ
airfoil has very smooth flying characteristics. Aerotow at his bests. It has a graceful thermalling capability, and the wings are strong to
withstand some abuse. Not suited for aerobatics though. Adequate construction of
the wings shows realistic flex and curvature in the air.
With this super scale glider, only a few hours are required, before
completion.
The wings are hollow moulded as any other surface (rudder, elevator). Airbrakes are
installed and ready to be connected by the mean of a micro servo in the wing. The high
gloss, gel coated Fiberglas fuselage has the wing joiner carrying tubes and the rudder
control tube installed. Aside the functional retract, the tail and nose wheel
are installed. A functional tow release is installed as well. A small package hardware and
building instructions are completing the kit.
Radio requirements are two micro servos for the ailerons,
two for the flaps and two additional micro servos for the airbrakes. Four regular servos
for the elevator, rudder, retract, and tow release.
