ICARE is pleased to offer another fine sailplane
in our Super Scale series. The
DG-600 from DG
Flugzeugbau (formerly Glaser-Dirks) was designed in 1987 and made available in
three configurations: a 15 M class sailplane with winglets, a 17+ M version with
detachable tips and a self-launching motorized version. The extended wing version is still competitive with the newer DG-800 in
the 18 M class. The
wing molds for the DG-600 were destroyed in a fire at the factory in 1992 so
only 112 units were built. The few lucky pilots who own the limited number of this
aircraft are blessed with a sailplane that is still competitive in both the
15-meter class and, with extended wing tips, the open class.
The
quality and level of completeness of this super scale 1:3.75 model sets a new
standard in manufactured scale sailplanes. This aircraft is completely finished with only radio installation and
balancing required before being ready to fly. In keeping with its full-scale counterpart, it is supplied with
interchangeable wing tips allowing it to be flown as either a 4 meter or a
4.8 meter sailplane.
The
front-hinged canopy, with working sliding vent window, covers a completely
detailed interior, including instrument mushroom with instruments, an
upholstered pilot seat with safety harness, control column, and lots of other
interesting touches. The seat and
safety harness is ready to accept your scale pilot. The aerotow release and retract are installed as are all exterior
markings. The scale detailing of
this model is truly outstanding. The
wing roots form a gentle curve as per the original to perfectly match the
fuselage. The super strong wing
joiner system is made up of two interlocking spar extensions that attach to a
bulkhead in the fuselage with a single pin, just like the full-scale
counterpart. The very strong wings
are hollow molded from fiberglass with carbon fiber on the inner panels and full
carbon fiber spar caps. For amazing
scale realism, an optional water ballast system is available.

The true scale likeness and high quality of the workmanship
of this aircraft will be obvious to even the most casual observer. The quality and completeness makes this sailplane an outstanding value. Although it is possible to successfully winch tow this sailplane, it will
be at it’s best when either aero towed or flown from a large slope.
Radio requirements are, two micro servos for the
ailerons, two micro servos for the flaps, two additional micro servos for the
spoilers and four regular servos for the elevator, rudder retract and aerotow
release. A small package of
hardware and building instructions complete the kit.
