The
Koleos HLG and is the latest development of the popular Carbon D-light series of
gliders from ICARE.
They are based on the same molded carbon D-box technology that made the
Carbon D-light so successful. This
type of construction results in a very strong, light wing and a very accurate
airfoil shape over the leading edge - the most important part of the airfoil.
To
reduce the overall weight, the Koleos fuselage consists of a Kevlar pod and a carbon
fiber boom. The light Kevlar pod has the
strength to stand up to the hard catches and landings of the competitive flyer. The carbon boom is a work of art - thin, light and stiff. The tail moment has been lengthened for improved pitch dampening and
responsiveness to control inputs.

The
low inertia of the wings allow the glider to react to the lightest lift. The low drag,
hollow-molded tips are swept back to reduce the stall speed
and curved up to reduce the turning radius. This, combined with an overall improvement in handling, results in a
sailplane that will allow you to work small low-level thermals with confidence.
Radio requirements are two sub micro servos and a micro
receiver. You can use a 110 mAh or a 350 mAh receiver battery.
Kit content:
All
parts of the Koleos
are pre-finished so very little time is required to get it into the air. The two-piece wing is completely finished and covered in Oracover Light. The aileron version has the servo wires pre-installed. The balsa "V" tail is covered and only needs to be joined at
the center. The fuselage comes
complete with a trimmed canopy, wing hold down block and ruddervator pushrods
pre-installed. These great
sailplanes are available from ICARE in HLG or Ultd HLG versions with a choice of poly or aileron wings.
Also available as an option: a cruciform tail kit.
